Tips for staying tobacco-free

Decide that you WANT to stay tobacco-free!

  • Go over your reasons for wanting to quit.
  • Get rid of lighters, ashtrays, matches and cigarettes.
  • Identify relapse triggers and work on solutions to keep from returning to smoking.
  • Review what did and didn't work during previous quit attempts. Apply what you have learned to quitting this time.
  • Get busy and do something else, ANYTHING but smoke.
  • Tell your family and friends you're going to stop so they can support you.
  • Save the money you would have spent buying tobacco. It adds up!
  • If you slip up, start over again... Don't give up!
